Geranium

There are over 700 types of geranium plant, and the essential oils extracted from their flowers differ slightly depending on where the plant has grown. Many African cultures use geranium oil in skin applications, for its muscle tightening properties, although it can also be used on the skin to help with conditions such as acne, eczema, blisters, burns and blocked pores.

It has a soothing effect, and is therefore often used to help ease anxiety, stress and depression. It’s refreshing scent has an uplifting effect on the mood.

Geranium oil also has antiseptic like properties, and is particularly effective for treating infections in the nose and throat and can help soothe the discomfort of mouth ulcers.

Traditionally thought of as a feminine oil, geranium is a balancing oil, that can help relieve menstrual symptoms such as cramps, swollen breasts and water retention. It can also help stimulate poor blood and lymph circulation.
