The Monstera plant, also known as the split-leaf Philodendron, is an easy to grow houseplant that can live for many years and boasts air-purifying properties.
This is a tropical plant, recognised for their large leaves with deep, dramatic lobes, deriving from the rainforest of Southern Mexico and Central America. Given the right conditions, this plant can grow relatively large, therefore allocating an appropriate amount of space is necessary.
The Monstera plant favours a moderate amount of sunlight and relative humidity. Too much sunlight will result in the sourcing and yellowing of the leaves. This is a handsome, architectural plant.
Directions of use:
Water the Monstera when the top quarter of the soil appears dry. A moderate and evenly distribution of water once a week is sufficient. Wait until the soil is fairly dry before watering again. The Monstera plant should be kept in a fairly humid environment. We’d also suggest misting the leaves with water and wiping them down as dust can build up. Important note: the leaves are toxic to cats and dogs, so it’s best to avoid if you’re a pet owner.
