Brendan's Story
Brendan Murdock grew up near the Mourne Mountains in Ireland, where the landscape shaped his understanding of how place affects mood and body. That early awareness carried through his career: from finance and law to opening London’s first natural wine bar, and then founding Murdock London, a men’s grooming company.
His longstanding interest in essential oils and aromachology, along with a desire to reimagine the apothecary for modern needs, led to the founding of anatomē.
Rather than replicate old traditions, he wanted to create a system of support that combined clinical insight, sensorial richness, and everyday usability.
His Inspiration
Once considering an apothecary venture in 2002, Brendan shifted gears toward the culinary realm, having created the renowned restaurant, Cru, and pioneering the vibrant wine bar scene in Hoxton, London.
His entrepreneurial spirit flourished with the launch of Murdock London, a revered men's grooming empire spanning London and beyond. Yet, Brendan's personal odyssey for equilibrium, intertwined with his botanical expertise, sparked the genesis of anatomē—a reimagination of the traditional London apothecary.
Today, Brendan invites you to delve into a world where scent evokes memories and emotions, where anatomē stands as a sanctuary for holistic wellness, offering guidance on sleep, focus, movement, gut health, and graceful ageing.
'I wanted to create a brand that can engage with our community, to talk about feeling better, at ease. I couldn't find a place like that, so I created my own: a place people can go to for well-being advice, sleep tips, get help to focus on daily activities and find support to move better, improve gut health, unwind, and navigate transformations that come with the ageing process.'
