Summer Series
As we celebrate the coming of autumn, we bid summer its final farewell and promise to enjoy the last few golden rays before the rain sets in. Judi, one of our wellbeing experts, shares the sights, scenes and sips she plans to enjoy before the sun sets.
It’s the last days of summer in London! What are you enjoying in the city?
A warm, sunny day in London is a wonderful thing. I live in an apartment, so any time outdoors is valued. I have been enjoying evenings in my local park in North London, along with food festivals, like Taste of London in Regents Park.
What are some of your favourite eateries in the city this season?
There are so many it's really hard to narrow it down. The new Ave Mario in Covent Garden is definitely on my list and I always adore The Dalloway Terrace's summer floral displays. I love The Dusty Knuckle Bakery in Haringey, they have the best pastries and sourdough!
Any destinations planned this summer?
My partner & I have 10 days booked in Corfu near infamous The Durrells' Old White House. It's in an area of Corfu that has always appealed to me. We are staying in an old windmill that is 100 yards from the beach and quite secluded, so that we can really recharge our batteries. I am also looking forward to endless snorkelling, as I love sea swimming and discovering all the life in the ocean!
What will you be reading?
My guilty pleasure is reading crime novels and psychological thrillers, so I have Sarah Naughton’s The Mothers on my list, along with Viola Davis’ memoir, Finding Me, which I hear is an emotional read.
Any special summertime meal recommendations?
Even though I live in an apartment, I am currently obsessed with grilling everything, from halibut to Korean barbecue, served alongside really crisp, crunchy veg. Everything in balance however, and I love the occasional gelato, pistachio is the best!
How do you keep active in the warmer months?
I try to walk everywhere! I visit our stores regularly, so I try and walk there as much as I can. In particular, I love the walk down Kinnerton street towards our Motcomb Street store.
Your favourite, refreshing aperitivo?
My go-to would be an ice cold Rosé, a favourite is Whispering Angel, but I also enjoy a good Tom Collins.
Any travel hacks?
Don't forget your skin whilst travelling! Flying can really dehydrate one's skin, so I always moisturise with our Ultra-Hydrating Face Moisturiser prior, during and after flying. It's packed with Rose of Jericho to really nourish and enrich the skin. As sleep can sometimes be challenging whilst away, I always take my Japanese Seaweed Essential Oil Scent with me (just in case).
