Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the creation of Kimai and how your own wellness practices influenced your decision to create a sustainable brand?
A key aspect of my wellbeing revolves around prioritizing and practicing frequent self-care and part of that is making sure I treat myself, whether that's a matcha latte after the gym or a new necklace I've had my eye on. I've always been in love with jewellery and the sentimental value each piece holds but wanted to do it in a better way.
I wanted to create a brand where women can invest in unique pieces that not only last a lifetime but do so without the implications of mined stones. A place where they can indulge in the joy of self-expression and adornment, knowing that they are contributing to a more sustainable future. High-quality, low-impact, and fully traceable.
Favorite wellbeing/movement studio?
I love mixing and trying different places. At the moment I’m a big fan of Heartcore for Pilates, Form Studio in Notting Hill for HIIT classes and Circuit Society for some more intense HIIT and TRX classes.
What are your go-to tips for finding calm when experiencing stress?
"For me, if it's work-related it’s as simple as going for a walk. When I feel stressed, I feel the need to walk around and take some fresh air."
I also really enjoy time away from my phone and emails and spending more time with friends, laughing, and talking about all things that are non-related to work. I quickly then forget about all my stressful times.
What do you do to motivate yourself, or to switch up energy throughout the day?
It’s been just over a year since I started my early morning routine and it's been great! I get up and do an activity first thing 4x a week. It helps me refocus, gives me the positive energy and motivation I need, and completely changes my mindset to tackle any day ahead.
How do you define wellbeing?
For me, wellbeing is taking care of yourself - whether it’s your body or your mind. There's no set way as it's different for each person but anything that helps nurture mind and body works.
What are some small habits you practice that make a big difference?
I’m a big fan of pre-sunrise exercises. I love going to the gym before the world wakes up, it empowers me and gets me to a great start before work. Exercising has really had a huge impact on me. I never realised how important it was until I started exercising daily - not for our physical wellbeing but for our mental wellbeing most importantly.
